Webinar on Balancing Intergenerational Interests for STEP

7-3-2024

Through STEP – Advising Families Across Generations, I delivered together with great peers John Riches and Garvin Brown and moderated by the wonderful Gina M. Pereira a Webinar on balancing intergenerational interests that had an impressive number of close to 500 live attendees and an excellent satisfaction score.

With reference to the song of The Who from 1965 'My Generation', now new waves of wealth inheritors find themselves striving to amplify their voices and earn respect, as they fervently call for responsible stewardship of their legacies.

In this webinar, I set out the basics of why, in my view, advisers may be liable for the serious consequences of a monolithic professional attitude (be in on tax, legal, notarial issues) towards transferring family businesses to the next generation. In doing so, I also outline how professionals can reformulate their assignments to take into account this broader duty of care, which takes into account the now well-known research findings.
This responsible duty of care is explained from years of experience and insight in family governance frameworks by each of us.
